Universal civil service, free of charge to the program “Genoa 2050”: investing on young people to build the city of tomorrow

GENOVA (ITALPRESS) – Investing on young people to build the Genoa of tomorrow. The City Council, on a proposal from the mayor Silvia Salis, approved the deliberation that gives the green light to the presentation of the Universal Civil Service Programme “Genoa 2050: Future in Commune”, candidate under the National Public Notice 2026.

The initiative, coordinated by the Municipality as a leader, is divided into two specific projects: “Activity and connections” and “Spaces and territories”. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to offer the new generations a concrete opportunity of civic, professional and human growth, on the other, to strengthen the services of proximity, culture, social inclusion and urban sustainability, networking key places of the city and reality of the Third Sector. The program aims to make the young active protagonists of the city fabric, improving access to opportunities and enhancing the material and intangible heritage of Genoa, in line with the objectives of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

“To choose to dedicate a part of your time to the community is an experience that can help a girl or a boy discover their skills, understand which way to undertake and know more closely the needs of people – says the mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis – is one of the most valuable aspects of civil service: you learn by doing something useful for others and build a different relationship with the city. With the program “Genoa 2050” we want to offer young people this possibility, involving them in the life of the neighborhoods, services and in the valorization of our cultural heritage. As an administration we have the responsibility to give space to their ideas and accompany them on a path in which they can grow and contribute. We want to listen to them and put them in the condition of being able to affect, already today, the future of Genoa”.

The program, the result of a work of cross-projection between the different sectors of the administration and the partners of the territory, does not entail extraordinary charges for the municipal budget and now awaits the definitive free way and the consequent financing by the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service.
