BERGAMO (ITALPRESS) – The Economics and Management Research Lab of the University of Bergamo was inaugurated this morning at the University’s Via L. Querena campus in Bergamo. The lab, the result of collaboration between the Departments of Business and Economics, represents an innovative hub dedicated to frontier research and the academic activity of young researchers and doctoral students. The Research Lab is a modern and dynamic space designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between young scholars and experienced researchers. The openspace, which is confidential and accessible without time constraints, allows for continuous interaction, stimulating discussion between different disciplines of Economics and Management and encouraging the activation of synergies for improving the quality of research. In addition to young researchers who have recently completed their Ph.D.s and doctoral students, the Research Lab also hosts researchers collaborating on the GRINS (Growing Resilient, INclusive and Sustainable) project, funded under the PNRR and supported by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, which aims to develop models and actions to support households, businesses and policymakers in making economic and financial choices. The project also includes the implementation of enabling technologies and the provision of a data platform (Amelia) for use by policymakers. The inauguration was attended by the Rector, Sergio Cavalieri, the Director of the Department of Business Sciences, Daniela Andreini, and the Director of the Department of Economics, Gianmaria Martini. Also with them were the Director of the Doctoral Program in Management Accounting and Finance, Sergio Ortobelli Lozza, and the Director of the Doctoral Program in Economics, Francesco Cinnirella. A representative of the doctoral students in Management Accounting and Finance and in Business & Law and one of the doctoral students in Economics also spoke; as well as post-docs who shared their academic experiences and aspirations and the representative of the Grins project researchers. “With this inauguration,” explains the Rector, Sergio Cavalieri, “the University of Bergamo confirms its commitment to the promotion of advanced research and the enhancement of young academic talent, offering them a stimulating and highly collaborative environment where they can develop their full potential. “The Research Lab,” explains the Director of the Department of Economic Sciences, Prof. Gianmaria Martini, “is a relevant opportunity for research activities in the economic area of young people at the beginning of their academic career. They can in this way ground synergies in analysis techniques, available databases, new relevant contributions in the literature, thus stimulating the research of all members of the DSE.” “In times of great acceleration and virtuality,” adds Department of Business Sciences Director Daniela Andreini, “having a physical space where they can take the time to experiment, discuss and grasp the meanings of the results is a fundamental activity for our young researchers. As Maria Sklodowska, better known as Marie Curie, said, ‘One cannot hope to build a better world without improving individuals. Each of us must work on his own improvement, while accepting general responsibility for all humanity.’ This space is dedicated to just that: to individual improvement and collective growth.” Currently, the Research Lab is staffed by four researchers dedicated to the Grins project, 38 junior post-doctoral researchers (22 belonging to the Department of Economics and 16 to the Department of Business Sciences) and 25 doctoral students (nine in Economics, eight in Management Accounting and Finance and eight in Business & Law).(ITALPRESS).
