Usa24, Biden “Transition will be peaceful and orderly”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Yesterday I congratulated Trump and assured a peaceful and orderly transition, this is what the American people deserve.” Thus outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden in his address to the nation.
“For over 200 years America has carried out the greatest experiment, and it is a fact, our people vote for their leaders and they do so peacefully. We are a democracy and the law of the people always prevails,” Biden stressed.
“Kamala Harris has been an outstanding partner and public servant, she has run a historic campaign, she has shown her great character, she has put forth all her efforts, and she should be proud of the campaign she has run,” said the president again, who added, “Election campaigns are a contest between visions that are competing, and we have accepted the choice that our country has made. You cannot love our country only when we win.”
“We have to see ourselves not as opponents but as Americans. We have to bring the temperature down and maintain the integrity of the American electoral system that is honest, fair and transparent. We can trust our electoral system, even when we lose,” said Biden again, who took stock of his tenure: “It’s been a historic presidency and I’m happy with what we’ve done, a lot of the work we’ve done has been felt by the vast majority of Americans and will continue to be felt for the next 10 years, just think of all the laws we’ve made that are now beginning to do their work changing people’s lives. It takes time, the path is in front of us.”
“We leave the strongest economy in the world, people are still suffering but things are changing rapidly. We have a few days to finish our work and we will do it, it is our responsibility of the American people,” he added.
“Stalemates are inevitable, but giving up is inexcusable. We can all fall but the measure of our strength is how quickly we can get back up. It does not mean we are defeated; we have lost this battle. The America of your dreams is calling for you to get back up. We must continue to strive, to move forward and to have faith,” the outgoing president concluded.
