ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Vard, a Norwegian subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, has signed a new contract with Ocean Infinity, already established customer, for the design and construction of four Multi-Purpose Robotic Vessels (MPV). The total value of the agreement exceeds 200 million. The contract also provides an integrated supply by Vard Electro, which will deliver the entire SeaQ system suite for remote operations, and by Vard Interiors, responsible for interior design solutions, which combine innovative design and energy-efficient systems to ensure crew comfort and operational excellence. Seaonics will provide the Launch and Recovery System (LARS), which will allow advanced management of ROV and geotechnical units. Two ships will be delivered by the Norwegian shipyards of Vard in the first and second quarter of 2028, while the other two will be built at the plant of Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, with delivery previewed in the third and fourth trimester of the same year.
Pierroberto Folgiero, managing director and general manager of Fincantieri, said: “In the era of unmanned ships, this new contract with Ocean Infinity testifies to the ability of Fincantieri and Vard to offer pioneering solutions for the robotics of the marine industry.
