Venezia mocks Como in recovery, ends 1-1 at Sinigaglia

COMO (ITALPRESS) – At the last gasp, Eusebio Di Francesco’s Venezia managed to snatch a point at Sinigaglia against Como, breaking a four-game goalless streak. In Saturday’s Serie A advance, the salvation clash between the Larians and the Lagooners ended 1-1. It all happened in the second half: the goal of former Fiorentina player Ikone, who entered just before after halftime, was answered in the final by Gytkjaer on a penalty kick. A draw in the end deserved for what the two formations produced during the match.

HERE’S HOW IT WENT BETWEEN PARMA AND TORINO

Il racconto del match

The great protagonists of the first half are undoubtedly the two goalkeepers, decisive in keeping the result in balance. The first to come to the fore is ex-Inter Radu, who on 22′ manages to deflect Smolcic’s header onto the post. In the final, the Comaschi also came close to taking the lead with Nico Paz, whose shot from the distance went out by a whisker under the watchful gaze of Javier Zanetti, who was present in the stands. On the other side, Butez also made two crucial interventions: at 29′ he repelled Zerbin’s right-footed cross, while at 35′ he denied the goal to Duncan, author of a close-range header, with an extraordinary save on the line. Despite the clear dominance in ball possession (72 percent), the hosts struggled to find gaps in the compact defense of the lagooners.

At halftime Fabregas does not hesitate to intervene in the starting eleven: out go Strefezza and the cautioned Jack, in go Ikone and Dossena. The Spanish coach’s moves immediately prove successful. Dossena brings solidity to the backline, while Ikone takes only four minutes to make his mark, scoring the 1-0 goal, his first with the Como jersey. Having recovered the ball in midfield, the Ivorian sprinted toward the goal, overcame Nicolussi Caviglia with a fortunate rebound and, with his left, slotted the ball into the low corner. After the goal conceded, Venezia struggled to organize a counterattack, sinning with a lack of conviction and risking conceding 2-0 on several occasions. On 75′ Radu kept his side afloat, parrying attempts by Ikone and Goldaniga. The end of the match also seemed written because Venezia’s attacks were haphazard and inconclusive. In the last minute, however, a heavy ingenuity of Smolcic concedes a chance from the penalty spot to the guests. The Croatian defender, in fact, knocks out Carboni in the box, ruining a performance up to that moment perfect. From the eleven meters goes Gytkjaer who signs a 1-1 that tastes like a mockery for Fabregas’ team.
