Venezuela, Meloni “Legittimo a defensive intervention against those who favour drug trafficking”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “I have followed developments in Venezuela since the very first developments. Italy, together with leading international partners, has never recognized the self-proclaimed election victory of Maduro, condemning acts of repression of the regime and has always supported the aspiration of the Venezuelan people to a democratic transition. Coherently with Italy’s historic position, the government considers that external military action is not the way to end the totalitarian regimes, but considers at the same time legitimate an intervention of a defensive nature against hybrid attacks to its own security, as in the case of statueal entities that feed and promote drug trafficking. We continue to follow with particular attention the situation of the Italian community in Venezuela, whose security is the absolute priority of the Government”. He writes on X the president of the Italian Council, Giorgia Meloni.

In agreement with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, President Meloni continues to follow with particular attention the situation of the Italian community in Venezuela, whose security is the absolute priority of the Government”.
