LOSAIL (QATAR) (ITALPRESS) – Max Verstappen won the Qatar Grand Prix race, taking home a success as well-deserved as it was unexpected, given the balance that, for much of the weekend, seemed to elect McLaren as the big favorite. Instead, the Woking team brought home third place for Oscar Piastri, anticipated by the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, who managed to take second place by virtue of a defensive race and also because of the penalty imposed – for a yellow flag infraction – on the other McLaren of Lando Norris. Result, this one, which thus postpones the fight for the Constructors’ Championship to the last race in Abu Dhabi. Many episodes within the race, with safety cars and several penalties determining the outcome of an uncertain race until the end. Fourth was the Mercedes of George Russell – penalized five seconds at the end of the race -, followed by Pierre Gasly and the other Ferrari of Carlos Sainz, who thus improves by one position the seventh position gained during Saturday’s qualifying. First points, however, for Zhou Guanyu’s Sauber, preceded by Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin, as well as Kevin Magnussen’s Haas and Norris’ McLaren, which closes the top ten (with the fastest lap of the race).- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
