PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Maria Lucia Furnari is the new medical director of the Azienda Ospedali Riuniti Villa Sofia-Cervello in Palermo. A Palermo native, a specialist in infectious diseases, respiratory diseases as well as General Medicine, Furnari arrives from the direction of service 2 “Training” of the Department of Health Activities Epidemiological Observatory (DASOE), Regional Health Department. He has consolidated managerial experience to his credit, with particular reference to the Civico and Di Cristina hospitals where he served as director of Medical Directorates.The appointment, operational as of today, Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, was conferred by resolution of extraordinary commissioner Alessandro Mazzara by drawing from the current list of individuals eligible for appointment as health director of the Companies of the Health Service of the Sicilian Region. The appointment of the health director completes the strategic management team of the A.O.O.R.
