Visibilia, minister Santanchè’s hearing on Inps fraud allegations postponed to May 20

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The preliminary hearing in the case in which Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè is accused of aggravated fraud against the Inps for alleged irregularities in the Visibilia company’s Covid layoff fund has been postponed to May 20. Judge Tiziana Gueli granted the request for a postponement made by Santanchè’s new defense counsel, Salvatore Pino, who took over from lawyer Salvatore Sanzo, to allow him to examine the documents in the investigation.

The Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, with prosecutors Marina Gravina and Luigi Luzi, opposed the request, pointing out the risk of the statute of limitations for some of the charges, which will expire in 2027 as they relate to events in 2020. The magistrates cited case law precedents on postponements denied in similar situations, but the judge justified the decision by explaining that she had no other dates available before May 20. Other defendants include Dimitri Kunz, Santanché’s partner, and Paolo Concordia, the Visibilia group treasury manager.
