Volvo FH Aero wins the Green Truck 2025 award

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The Volvo FH Aero, the most fuel-efficient vehicle ever, is the winner of the Green Truck 2025 award. The Volvo FH Aero offers a combination of good aerodynamics and an efficient powertrain, resulting in fuel and CO2 savings, according to an independent test.

The annual Green Truck test is a comprehensive, independent comparative test organized by German trade magazines Trucker and Verkehrs-Rundschau to identify the most fuel-efficient long-haul truck. “I am very proud to see an external test that confirms that our Volvo FH Aero really does offer superior fuel efficiency, saving CO2 and operating costs for our customers every day,” said Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks.

“We will continue to innovate and introduce fuel efficiency improvements that benefit both the climate and the productivity of transportation companies. Fuel consumption is an important part of our customers’ operating costs, so we know that our efforts make a difference.”

This year’s winner is the Volvo FH Aero with a 420-hp D13 engine and Volvo’s I-Save package, as well as the new Camera Monitor System, which saves fuel through its positive impact on aerodynamics. The Volvo truck recorded an average consumption of 21.20 liters/100 km on a test route defined by the organizer.

“With the Green Truck win, Volvo Trucks has scored a hat trick! First we were the only brand to get five stars in Euro NCAP’s first heavy-duty vehicle safety test, then we became the largest heavy-duty vehicle brand in Europe in 2024, and now the Volvo FH Aero is the most fuel-efficient truck in an independent test-I’m really proud of all these achievements!” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo trucks.

The Volvo FH Aero was introduced in early 2024 and features a new aerodynamic cab design that saves up to 5 percent in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to the regular Volvo FH. The model tested is powered by Volvo’s reliable and efficient D13 diesel engine with I-Save, which combines the efficient turbo compound engine with dedicated management software. Volvo’s new FH Aero model series is available in four versions: the FH Aero, FH Aero Electric, FH Aero gas, and FH16 Aero. The diesel and gas versions of the Volvo FH and FH Aero can be powered by renewable fuels such as biogas, biodiesel and HVO, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
