Volvo Group at Ecomondo, together towards zero

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – From Nov. 5 to 8, in Hall A5C5, on an area of 700 square meters, the Volvo Group will present sustainable solutions aimed at zero CO2 emissions by 2050, emphasizing that technological plurality is the key word to achieve this goal. Volvo Trucks, in a national premiere, will present the new FM Low Entry, the exclusively electric low entry vehicle with an excellent level of visibility (5 stars in Direct Vision rating) and driving comfort. An ideal choice when needing a high-capacity vehicle, suitable for any city segment such as garbage collection, construction site or deliveries. Vehicle charging will be represented by a 300 kW Plenitude charging station and a BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) unit from Volvo Penta. The new Volvo FH16 Aero powered by HVOlution will also be on display. Designed for maximum productivity, with its aerodynamic design combined with the powerful D17 engine, this vehicle offers high performance and fuel economy, providing an exceptional driving experience.HVOlution is Enilive’s diesel biofuel produced from 100 percent renewable raw materials (under the European Renewable Energy Directive “REDII”). It is produced mainly from waste feedstocks, such as waste cooking oil, animal fats, and agribusiness residues. The use of HVOlution has resulted in a reduction of CO2eq emissions along the entire supply chain in 2023 with percentages ranging from 60 percent to 90 percent, compared to the reference fossil mix according to the criteria set by the RED II Directive, depending on the raw materials used.Volvo will also bring a concrete circular economy project in partnership with Energiapura, a leading brand in the production of technical racing apparel and protections for alpine skiing.Energiapura makes products derived from the recycling of PET plastic bottles that are in turn recyclable: fabrics, labels, zippers, padding, every component is involved in this process of revitalization of the material. The recovered plastics are then transported aboard the new FH Aero Electric to processing centers. Volvo personnel, at Ecomondo, will then be testimonials for this project by wearing garments made through the recovery of PET bottles. In this way, a continuous and virtuous path is realized that resets waste to zero and activates a true cycle of sustainability. At the booth there will be an ecocompactor available to the public for the collection of PET plastic bottle empties: with each bottle inserted, a receipt receipt will be issued. A randomly selected receipt will be matched with a free gift.Volvo CE Italy, in a national premiere, will present the first L120 mid-size electric wheel loader that is already enjoying great success with selected customers in Europe. Also on display will be the EC230 F-Series 100% HVO excavator, the ECR18 Electric compact excavator equipped with the new “Demolition Pack” and the L25 Electric compact wheel loader with Holms sweeper that has already been on the market for some time and at work in more and more construction sites in Italy as well. Also on display will be the new PU40 mobile charger, which is compact, portable and easy to use and can recharge everything from Volvo compact electric machines to other electric equipment on the construction site. Much attention will be paid to operator training with the Cab Simulator, a device with which operators are able to experience realistic scenarios in a safe and fun learning environment. At this edition of Ecomondo, great space will be devoted to Site Solutions, the intelligent solutions for increasing productivity, zeroing downtime and reducing costs and emissions, with experts in new technologies and services from VolvoConstruction Equipment available in a dedicated area. With the widest range of electric machines and charging solutions on the market, Volvo CE is at the forefront of transforming our industry to a zero-emissions future. Volvo Penta will present at Ecomondo a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) unit built in collaboration with Tecnogen, a BGG Group company.Volvo Penta is the supplier of the DC block, based on proven technology from the Volvo Group, with the aim of contributing to the energy transition based on renewable sources.Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) improve the reliability, capacity and resilience of the power grid through energy storage and distribution. Volvo Penta has developed a purpose-built, scalable subsystem intended for BESS with the goal of improving efficiency and performance for power delivery toward a net-zero future. From one unit to as many as needed, Volvo Penta’s solution is scalable to hundreds of megawatt-hours and is optimized to meet business needs for energy storage. Volvo Penta supports BESS builders with a compact, efficient, high-power-density integrated subsystem that is easy to install, control and maintain.A 3D video, showing how BESS works in the company, will provide a preview of a zero net-emission future.Within the Volvo Penta space, the new D17 engine, the unit with the highest power density in our range and already HVO fuel-compliant, will also be on display. The new engine will be on display. Designed and developed to meet the needs of the future, it represents the first platform that will also be declined in gas power. Volvo Penta’s new products represent a further step to support customers in the transition to zero emissions and fulfill the company’s commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with the goal of achieving zero emissions in the value chain by 2040.
