Volvo launches new electric trucks with a range of up to 700 km

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Volvo Trucks continues to exceed the limits of electric transport on trucks. With the launch of its new electric vehicles, characterized by improved performance, increased flexibility and autonomy up to 700 km, Volvo Trucks establishes a new benchmark in the heavy duty electric truck sector. You can now announce important news in the electrical sector.

First of all, a new electric truck for long-distance transport, the Volvo FH Aero Electric with greater autonomy, able to travel up to 700 km with only one charge, an important step forward for heavy electric vehicles and for transport on really long distances.

Second, the new generation Volvo FH, FM and FMX electric vehicles, with important improvements in terms of flexibility, productivity, driving comfort and autonomy up to 470 km, which allow to adopt the electrical operation for an even greater number of transport activities.

“We are really making our offer even more competitive.” We are expanding our offer and making possible electrical solutions for an even greater number of transport assignments, adding a state-of-the-art electric truck with a range of up to 700 km. This means that we can fully meet the operational needs of our customers.

“It has never been easier to replace diesel vehicles with electric vehicles,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “We are firmly convinced that, in the future, electric vehicles will represent an important part of world-wide freight transport. With the extraordinary performance of all our new industrial vehicles, it is easy to understand why.”

The new truck for long-distance transport, the Volvo FH Aero Electric with extended autonomy, can travel up to 700 km with one charge thanks to a new technology of the kinematic chain, the e-axle, which allows you to stay on board a capacity of batteries significantly greater.

The vehicle is compatible with the new MCS standard (Megawatt Charging System) and the charging of 8 batteries from 20% to 80% will take about 50 minutes. This means that charging can be carried out during the rest period provided by the regulations for truck drivers in the EU, thus contributing to high productivity. “This long-range electric truck is the best in the industry. It offers exceptional autonomy, combined with a high payload, fast charging and excellent gear comfort.

With this vehicle, our customers can travel really long distances and cover an entire working day with the same productivity as diesel vehicles,” says Roger Alm. The new FH, FM and FMX electric trucks are equipped with a new cinematic chain designed to offer maximum flexibility in different applications. It offers excellent driveability and is designed so that the driver can drive the vehicle and feed auxiliary equipment such as a beton, a waste system or a waste compactor without additional motors or additional accessories.

This is due to a built-in (PTO) grip, with advanced features that allow it to be used while driving. Trucks will have a range of up to 470 km and can be recharged from 20% to 80% in 65 minutes.

“The new generation FH, FM and FMX Electric models are rich in new and intelligent functions, offering high driver comfort and making it possible to transport zero emissions to the exhaust for a wide range of transport missions,” says Roger Alm.

All new trucks – the new Volvo FH, FM and FMX Electric and the FH Aero Electric with extended autonomy – are equipped with an optimized change for electric transmission, combined with dual motors, to offer smoother and better controlled performance. The new Powershift gearboxes, eight-speed on the new Volvo FH, FM and FMX Electric and six-speed FH Aero Electric with extended autonomy, offer a uniform gearbox and also produce less noise and vibration for a more comfortable working day. The new vehicles will be introduced progressively in the various markets from 2026.
