War in the Middle East, Pope Leo “Cessate the fire, reopen the paths of dialogue”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “On behalf of Christians in the Middle East and of all women and men of good will I address myself to the leaders of this conflict: cease fire, reopen paths of dialogue.” The Pope said this at the end of the Angelus recitation in St. Peter’s Square. “For two weeks, the peoples of the Middle East have suffered the atrocious violence of war. Thousands of innocent people were killed and many more forced to leave their homes,” he added.

“I was very close to all those who lost their loved ones in the attacks that hit schools, hospitals and housing centers. The situation in Lebanon is of great concern. I hope that dialogue will support the authorities of the country in implementing lasting solutions to the serious situation in progress for the common good of all Lebanese,” he concluded.
