FLORENCE (ITALPRESS) – A water bomb hit Florence this morning causing numerous floods and sending traffic into a tailspin. Disturbances were reported in the historic center, in Oltrarno. In the Porta Romana area, water leaked from manholes. In the area of Soffiano streets invaded by water, with flooding also reported on the outskirts of Florence.
From the point of view of the bad weather in Tuscany, “it has been a difficult morning, I come now from the Civil Defense room in Novoli, by now it is concentrating on Alto Mugello, Casentino, Valtiberina our main alert however the situation at the moment is fortunately moving in a positive direction. The night has been tough with landslides and flooding from the Massa and Carrara area to the Apennine areas. I hope, however, that there are no reports beyond those I have been able to get so far of greater severity. The system has held up despite rainfall exceeding 200 milliliters. By now the size of the water bomb is becoming the criticality, fortunately we have done a lot of work because in the face of this way of precipitation of wastewater rainwater in other times we would have had much more damage.” This was said by the president of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani on the sidelines of a press conference held in Florence.
