Webuild for the South, with 2,300 young people already trained in the 3rd edition Build Up

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Webuild relaunches its commitment to the formation and development of the territories with the third edition of Build Up, the program that brings students of the Technical Institutes to the world of great works. The third edition started from the city of Barletta, in Puglia, the first stage of a workshop tour in the presence that will involve more 1,000 young people and that will touch various Italian cities, in particular to the South, from here to the beginning of 2026.
The initiative aims to create a concrete bridge between the school and the world of work and is confirmed as a tool for enhancing the human capital of South Italy, after the success recorded in the first two editions: 2.300 young people involved throughout Italy, of which more than 1,100 in Sicily and more than 350 in Calabria. The Build Up program, part of the School-Work Training course (formerly PCTO), is aimed at students of the addresses Construction, Environment and Territory, Mechatronics and Geotechnics. The heart of the initiative are thematic workshops and a Project Work that stimulates young people to design infrastructure related to their own territory, with a focus on sustainability, innovation and social impact.
The activities include 40 hours, which will provide students with compulsory training credits to obtain their diploma. These hours will be divided between meetings in presence with Webuild experts and project work supervised by teachers, appropriately formed on Webuild themes. The most worthy teams will have access to visits to the yards and to experiences on the field, as already happened in the last edition for students of Bronte, in Sicily, and Reggio-Calabria, awarded with a day from “Webuilder” in the yard of the high railway capacity Messina-Catania.
The program represents a virtuous model of collaboration between enterprise, school and community, capable of generating social and professional value. The Group invests concretely in training and employment, not only through initiatives aimed at high school students and new graduates, but also with the broadest programme “Cantiere Lavoro Italia”, launched in 2023. To date, the programme has formed about 1,700 people between workers and employees, with the aim of enhancing human capital and creating qualified occupation on the territory. Addressed to both young people without experience and resources to be redeveloped, it offers concrete training paths and opportunities for entry into the yards.
In South Italy, Webuild – in collaboration with the Building Schools – built a solid and capillary network of training centres to prepare the new generations for the challenges of the complex infrastructures: from construction schools in Calabria for the specialized training of workers and staff, to the active center in Campania, to the training laboratory of Bovino (Foggia) in Puglia, which represent a point of reference for the development of technical skills in the territory.
In Sicily, the Belpasso Advanced Training Centre (CT), inaugurated in November 2023 in collaboration with the Sicilian Region, is today the core of the mechanized excavation training. Equipped with TBM simulators and cutting-edge machinery, the centre offers a comprehensive training experience, thanks to the expertise of internal experts and external professionals.
