MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “The relationship between Italy and the United Arab Emirates represents an example of international cooperation under the banner of innovation and sustainability. As Webuild Group, it is a privilege to be able to contribute to the strengthening of this bond, with tangible results that for half a century have seen us working alongside many local clients to support the development of the country’s infrastructure and collective well-being.” This was stated by Pietro Salini, CEO of Webuild, during his participation in the program “Business with Lubna” on Sky News Arabia.
“The United Arab Emirates,” he continued, “is a rapidly developing country that continues to invest intensively in the infrastructure sector, driven by a strategy of economic diversification and the need to support population and tourism growth. Webuild Group now has significant business prospects in the area, especially on projects in the energy, metro and railway, water treatment and desalination plants sectors, but also on iconic building projects, hospitals and airports.”
“In the United Arab Emirates, the Webuild Group has completed about 30 projects in different sectors, thanks in part to a long tradition of engineering excellence that has seen us as a key player in the infrastructure sector on a global scale for 120 years,” Salini recalled. “For example, we have built the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi, among the largest in the world and capable of accommodating up to 40 thousand worshippers, but also the Jebel Ali M Desalination Plant, among the most representative on a global scale for the industry in the sector, capable of supplying the city of Dubai with drinking water, with more than 636 thousand cubic meters of water per day,” Salini concluded.
Webuild has an established presence in the water sector throughout the Middle East region, where it operates with its subsidiary Fisia Italimpianti, a global leader in water treatment for desalination, whose plants guarantee water to more than 20 million people worldwide. The entire Middle East area constitutes a scenario of great strategic interest for Webuild, which is confronted here with the implementation of some of the most challenging infrastructure projects in the world, such as the futuristic NEOM project in Saudi Arabia.
Also in Saudi Arabia, he has already created iconic works such as the Kingdom Centre in Riyadh, which was awarded the 2002 Emporis Skyscraper Award as the world’s best skyscraper design, and the Orange Line (Line 3) of the Riyadh Metro, the longest in the Saudi capital’s innovative new metro network. In Qatar, he designed the Al-Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, the setting for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and featuring a distinctive Arab tent shape.
