Webuild, Saudi King Salman inaugurates Riyadh’s new metro network

RIYADH (SAUDI ARABIA) (ITALPRESS) – King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud yesterday officially inaugurated the metro network in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, whose six fully automated lines cover a total length of 176 km. The network, in which Webuild Group is involved in the construction of Line 3, the longest in the entire system, will contribute to the capital’s urban mobility needs, improving the quality of life for its residents and visitors, in line with Vision 2030 goals.The Qasrl Al Hokm Downtown Station of the Riyadh metro, located near the Governor’s Palace of the Riyadh Region, stands out among the network’s four iconic stations. Covering an area of 20,000 square meters, its striking design features a large inverted cone made of stainless steel, symbolizing the country’s development vision. “We are very proud to contribute to a project of such magnitude and importance, supporting a strategic infrastructure work for the Kingdom and its capital. The work also represents a role model for new sustainable infrastructure that combines engineering technology with aesthetic beauty. The inauguration of the network is the result of great teamwork that has demonstrated the unique skills of our Group, developed working on the largest sustainable mobility projects in the world. We have been present in Saudi Arabia since 1966, and have completed 90 projects in the Kingdom. To date, we have a pipeline of projects of our interest of more than 30 billion euros, and Saudi Arabia is an area where we want to continue to grow. “We are engaged in the implementation of large innovative projects, in Arabia in NEOM we are implementing Connector and 3 dams in Trojena. Currently, it is engaged in the Kingdom with significant projects, such as the Connector high-speed line and a system of three dams and a freshwater lake for the city of Trojena, part of the NEOM development program. In Riyadh, it is building a 10,500-space mega parking lot, developed all underground, and the Sang Villas Urbanization Plan. These works are in addition to projects already completed, including the iconic Kingdom Center in Riyadh, which was awarded the 2002 Emporis Skyscraper Award as the world’s best skyscraper for design, more than 70 health care facilities, and the Shuaibah-3 desalination plant, built by Fisia Italimpianti, the Group’s subsidiary specializing in water treatment and desalination.In the sustainable mobility sector, Webuild has built works such as the M4 in Milan and some of the most beautiful Art Stations of the Naples metro in Italy, the Cityringen metro in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the skytrain viaduct of the Sydney metro in Australia. The Group is currently engaged in the construction of technically challenging projects such as Line C of the Rome Metro, and for the Grand Paris Express, the recently awarded Line 15 West, and Line 16, which is nearing completion, and Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop East, for which the Group signed the contract in recent days.
