ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Rome Court of Appeal confirmed life imprisonment for Marco Bianchi and 28 years in prison for his brother Gabriele. These are the sentences handed down on appeal-bis to the Bianchi brothers for the killing of Willy Monteiro Duarte, the 21-year-old who was beaten to death on Sept. 6, 2020, in Colleferro. The Rome Prosecutor General’s Office had asked for life imprisonment for both brothers in the Jan. 17 hearing.
The trial was back before the second-degree judges at the behest of the Supreme Court only on the issue of mitigating factors granted to the Artena brothers on appeal. In the second-degree trial, the two had in fact had their sentences reduced to 24 years, compared with the life sentence imposed in July 2022 by the Frosinone Court of Assizes. Instead, the sentences for the other two defendants became final: Francesco Belleggia and Mario Pincarelli, to 23 and 21 years in prison, respectively.
