With the new BMW iX3 the house of Monaco baptizes the “Neue Klasse”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – From Milan to Cortina only gone, without needing to recharge. This is how the new BMW iX3 with which the Munich house officially baptizes the “Neue Klasse”, a project that is not limited to electrification, but rewrites the brand’s DNA by focusing on digitization and circularity.

The proportions from real Sport Vehicle Activity are enhanced by an essential and muscular stylistic language. The front is dominated by the vertically-developed BMW horns, smaller than the last models, a tribute to the cars of the 60s, now stripped of the chrome to leave room for a dynamic luminous signature. The cleaning of the lines is not only aesthetic: with wire handles and smooth surfaces, the designers obtained an aerodynamic resistance coefficient of just 0.24.

Front and rear led lights, redesigned BMW logo, very capacious trunk and a small compartment under the front hood. You look for 20′′′ standard and optional 21′′′ and 22′′′. The cabin, extremely generous thanks to its native electrical architecture, puts the driver in the centre without neglecting the comfort of the passengers.

With the BMW Panoramic Vision the information is no longer confined to a small cluster, but projected on the entire width of the windscreen. This is harmonized by the BMW Operating System X, which integrates displays, lights and sounds (thanks to the soundscape HypersonX). The commitment to the “green” front: the Econeer seats, with a minimalist design, are 100% made with recycled PET. You are the positions of the driver seat, electrically adjusted, with memory and heated. New design, series, sport and M. Wireless charging for two phones, Under the shell lies the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology.

The iX3 50 xDrive launch version has a power of 469 CV (345 kW) and a pair of 645 Nm. The 100 km/h are reached in 4,9′′′ and the autonomy reaches 805 kilometers. Thanks to the 800 Volt architecture, the charging is quick: in 10 minutes, at an ultra-fast 400 kW station, 372 km of travel are recovered. The iX3 is not only a means of transport, but can be used in the home network with bidirectional charging. With Vehicle-to-Home and Vehicle-to-Grid functions, the car can feed its home or return energy to the network at peak times, turning into a real mobile powerbank.

Management is totally digital through the My BMW App that even allows you to use up to ten different charging contracts and monitor the power curve in real time. The safety of the guide takes advantage of four “super brains”, high-performance computers with a calculation power twenty times higher than current systems. BMW is the first producer to have obtained approval for Adas systems according to the new legislation.

By activating the pro pilot, the BMW Motorway Assistant allows you to remove your hands from the steering wheel for long stretches by changing lane only by turning the right or left look, with visual confirmation, while the City Assistant recognizes the traffic lights, stopping and restarting the car independently. Automatic parking is also at hand to the left of the steering wheel and only appears when the function is available. It is the concept of Symbiotic Drive: a fluid interaction in which artificial intelligence supports the driver discreetly, but infallible.

The “Heart of Joy” is the control unit that manages dynamics and traction with a speed ten times higher than the past. We tried it on Milan Venice and on the Brennero motorway as well as in the Badia valley and in the Pusteria valley and on the road the iX3 is guided with surgical precision, the answer to every input on steering and accelerator is instantaneous. The feeling is that of a total fluidity, emphasised by the Soft Stop function, which guarantees velvet braking by eliminating the annoying typical results of electric cars. In everyday driving, 98% of brakings are done through energy recovery, reducing the wear of friction brakes almost zero. The BMW iX3 50 xDrive, manufactured in Debrecen (Hungary) costs 69,900 euros.
