NEW YORK (USA) (ITALPRESS) – If Iran renounces the World Championship, Fifa should repeat Italy. This is the idea of Paolo Zampolli, Special Envoy of the President of the United States of America for Global Partnerships, who, according to the Financial Times, would propose to the International Football Association a solution to replace the Iranian selection, at a time when, despite the ceasefire, the ongoing war cannot be considered closed.
According to Zampolli Italy would have the titles, among the 4 cups of the world won and the Fifa ranking, to be recalled to the World Cup. In addition, the Financial Times explains, Fifa’s request “is presented as an attempt to curtail relations between the United States and Prime Minister Meloni.” In all this, Iran, today, has made known that it is ready to play the World Championship according to what is declared by Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesman of the Iranian government.
