ROME (ITALPRESS) – There was no doubt, but now it is official. The 2030 World Cup will be held (from June 8 to July 21) in Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Fifa’s Extraordinary Congress awarded the three countries, which submitted a joint bid, the organization of the 2030 World Cup. Spain, then, will get the World Cup back 48 years after the 1982 one in which Bearzot’s Italy triumphed, beating Germany 3-1 in the Santiago Bernabeu final. The World Cup will, therefore, be played in Morocco (six cities involved), Portugal (two) and Spain (nine) with three matches to be held in South America (one in Argentina, one in Paraguay and another in Uruguay) to celebrate the centenary of the first World Cup, the one held in 1930 in Uruguay and won by the Celeste, the host national team. There will be 11 stadiums and nine Spanish cities involved: Madrid (two stadiums), Barcelona (2), Seville, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Malaga, Zaragoza, Las Palmas and La Coruna. Six Moroccan cities: Agadir, Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier. Two Portuguese ones: Porto and Lisbon (two stadiums). Also awarded the 2034 World Cup to be organized by Saudi Arabia. Rated with an average score of 4.2 out of 5 (the highest in history) and supported by 170 federations, the Saudi bid did not convince everyone. The Norwegian Football Federation expressed reservations, referring in particular to the lack of respect for human rights. Even Fifa’s report, despite its record score, does not forget a number of problems such as those related to some stadiums yet to be built, the transportation system and the need for transparency regarding human rights. In addition, there is the problem of climate, and as was the case in Qatar in 2022, Saudi Arabia due to temperatures could be played between November and December. There will be 5 cities involved (Abha, Jeddah, Khobar, Neom and Riyadh) for 15 stadiums, some still to be built.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
