Yemen, new wave of U.S. airstrikes

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Houthi media report a new wave of U.S. airstrikes across Yemen, including neighborhoods in the rebel-controlled capital Sanaa.

According to Houthi-owned Al-Masirah TV, at least 19 attacks have been carried out since the early hours of this morning. The extent of damage and possible casualties is not immediately clear, although the number of attacks appeared particularly intense compared to other days of the campaign that began on March 15.

Early Houthi reports described at least seven people wounded in attacks in Sanaa this morning. Other attacks hit the Red Sea port city of Hodeida, the Iran-backed group’s stronghold of Saada, and in Yemen’s al-Jawf, Amran and Marib governorates.

The Houthis did not immediately recognize what had been targeted at those sites, other than the Sanaa International Airport, which is used for both civilian and military traffic.

Neighborhoods in the capital also host military and intelligence sites, as well as being crowded with civilians. Other affected areas include mountainous terrain north of Sanaa in Amran, where military camps and other installations are believed to be located.

The Al-Masirah satellite news network talks about the disrupted communication networks after the attacks.
