CATANZARO (ITALPRESS) – Betting on young people to do business in Calabria. By creating conditions to stay or return to the region, starting with training closer to the needs of the enterprises themselves. The summer school of the “L’orodicalabria” association is reopened tomorrow with these objectives. It is under the patronage of the European Commission.
They will be the vice president of the executive Ue, Raffaele Fitto, and the president of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, the protagonists of the inaugural evening, tomorrow in Pizzo. Here from 27 to 30 August teachers of the three universities of Calabria and Luiss, together with managers, marketing experts and entrepreneurs will animate lessons for the 24 students selected among the 80 who participated in the call. All strictly under 27 years.
As in previous years, children will start from an entrepreneurial idea to be transformed into a project to be presented to potential investors. Then, at the end of the summer school the four winners will be able to access a training-stage period, on the model of the experience their predecessors could make last spring in the entrepreneurial realities of the iconic Silicon Valley. While 4 scholarships for a business public speaking course in English will be assigned to them by the Fs group.
The four days in Pizzo will also be an opportunity for a comparison that will see protagonists entrepreneurs who have already realized their projects, in Calabria and also outside the region.
An example on all is Biofarm, which this year has won the prize “L’orodicalabria”: in 2015 Biofarm was only a family citrus grove, today Osvaldo De Falco has transformed it into a national platform with more than 100 partner farms throughout Italy, more than 100 thousand trees adopted, over 60 thousand users, and that has produced more than three million euros of direct revenues for small farmers of the network.
To open the evening talks, tomorrow at 20.30 in Piazza della Repubblica, the debate with Fitto and Occhiuto. The theme, the project “Right to stay” of the EU Commission, destined precisely to young people who want to build their future in their territories. In recent months the association L’orodicalabria has built a link between the European Commission and the three universities of the region: so the University of Calabria, the University of Catanzaro and the Mediterranean one of Reggio Calabria will be called to develop a project shared in collaboration with the European Union. On Friday 28th, at 9 pm, the rectors will be present in Piazza della Repubblica, together with Gaetano Quagliariello from Luiss School of Management and Eugenio Gaudio, president of the Fondazione Roma Sapienza. The next evening, Saturday, August 29, the word will pass to the testimonies of those who have already successfully built their own enterprise: “Semi di Calabria, the stories of those who chose to stay” is the title of the debate scheduled at 21:00 at the Casa della Cultura di Pizzo and to which will participate Mario Vitale, of Nextalia investment management, and Giuseppe Stigliano, professor of Marketing.
The final evening, Sunday, August 30 at 21 at the Castle, will be dedicated to the boys of the summer school who will present their business projects. The jury formed by the scientific committee of the association will decree the winners of the 2026 edition: 4 scholarships will be awarded for a period of high training abroad and 6 other scholarships for a business public speaking course in English.
