Zelensky “I spoke with Macron, coalition grows to achieve just peace”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “I spoke with the president of France Emmanuel Macron. As always, it was a very constructive conversation. We discussed the results of the online meeting of leaders that took place on Saturday. The coalition of countries willing to work with us to achieve a just and lasting peace is growing. This is very important. Ukraine is ready for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. However, for its implementation, Russia must stop placing conditions. We have also discussed this with President Macron.” Thus on X Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“In addition, we talked about the work of our teams in formulating clear security guarantees. France’s position on this issue is very specific and we fully support it. We continue to work and coordinate next steps and contacts with our partners. Thank you for all your efforts to achieve peace as soon as possible,” he added.

Zelensky then directly called out Moscow: “Tomorrow is one week since the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the air, at sea and on the front lines was put on the table. The implementation of this proposal could have begun long ago. Every day in wartime is a matter of lives. Now, almost a week later, it is clear to everyone in the world, even those who have refused to acknowledge the truth for the past three years, that it is Putin who is continuing to drag this war on. For the past week, Putin has failed to squeeze out a yes to the ceasefire proposal. He is saying what he wants, but not what the whole world wants to hear. The unconditional ceasefire proposal is essentially about saving lives, allowing diplomats to work to ensure security and lasting peace, the proposal Russia is ignoring. Pressure is needed to finally get Moscow to accept that their war must end,” he concluded.
