Zerbin delights Venezia, Tchatchoua saves Verona

VENICE (ITALPRESS) – The Veneto derby between Venezia and Hellas Verona ends 1-1: Zerbin’s first-half goal was answered by Tchatchoua in the second half. Under the pouring rain that hit the Penzo neither team managed to take home the salvation clash, leaving, in fact, the standings unchanged. After a balanced first half, the Scaligeri, who were fiercer and more responsive in terms of play, came out on top in the second half. Despite the few overall scoring chances, the first half is quite enjoyable and both teams play with great intensity. At the start Verona starts slightly better, close to the lead as early as 11 minutes with Serdar: Stankovic, however, manages to oppose with his foot, neutralizing the conclusion from inside the opponent’s penalty area. After the big chance conceded to the guests, the home rearguard settled down, playing the rest of the fraction with great order and compactness. The match continues on the tracks of balance until Venezia, with a bit of luck, unlocks the result at 28′. Zerbin, newly arrived from Napoli on loan, thus introduced himself in the best way to his new fans, sealing the 1-0 goal. After Pohjanpalo’s shot was rebounded by the Verona defense, the Italian striker was quick to pounce on the loose ball in the box and deposit it into the net. The bad news for Verona did not end there, however: in addition to the goal conceded, at 40′ Tengstedt was forced to leave the field following hard contact with Condé. In the second half, Verona charged headlong in the hunt for an equalizer, racking up corner kicks: the set pieces were not properly exploited by the Scaligeri, and Ghilardi’s undisturbed breakaway at 61′ did not find a positive outcome either. However, the guests’ pressure is total, while Venezia only thinks about defending. The Lagooners’ wall eventually falls at 76′ and Tchatchoua scores the equalizer from two steps after Sarr’s attempt. Zanetti’s lineup looked decidedly more physically brilliant, but risked coming back under on the only real danger produced by Venezia: Busio’s volleyed conclusion at 85′ was stretched by Montipò into a corner by a whisker. The final tie leaves both teams with a bitter taste in their mouths. Verona hooks Lecce and Parma at 20, four points ahead of Venezia, still second-last.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
