A terrifying incident unfolded this morning at a middle school just outside Rome, where a 12-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a classmate in the chest and hand before fleeing the scene. The students were gathered in the schoolyard, waiting for the bell, when the girl attacked, reportedly in response to her belief that the boy had “snitched” to a teacher. The school principal and staff immediately intervened, assisting the injured boy, who was then transported by ambulance to Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
After running a short distance, the girl stopped and, in tears, called the emergency services. She remained on the line until police arrived, surrendering the 10-centimeter knife she had brought from home. Visibly shaken, she recounted the moments of the attack, explaining that she was motivated by anger toward her classmate, whom she accused of telling their teacher about her alleged cheating in a recent exam.
Authorities are investigating the full details of the incident to determine whether other underlying issues might have contributed to her actions, though initial findings suggest the stabbing was intended as retribution for what she described as an act of betrayal.
