Rome in flames, huge fire in Monte Mario. Rai offices and homes evacueted

A large fire broke out in via Romeo Romei, in the Piazzale Clodio area, in Rome. Due to the flames, which broke out in the vegetation on the slopes of Monte Mario, the Rai headquarters in Via Teulada was evacuated as a precaution. Other nearby Rai offices and some homes were also evacuated.

Two fire brigade helicopters and one from the Lazio Region are operating in the upper part of the hill.

For precautionary purposes, also due to the spread of smoke, 40 people were evacuated from inside the Astronomical Observatory. The intervention was also complex due to the sudden change in wind direction.

The flames damaged some parked cars

There are 10 fire brigade teams involved in the extinguishing operations.
