Elly Schlein: “Our focus is on solutions, not controversies”

In a recent rally in Genoa, Elly Schlein, the national secretary of the Democratic Party (PD), responded to criticisms from center-right candidate Marco Bucci, who accused her of making “nonsense” statements. “We received insults even today. Our focus is on substantive issues; understanding how to solve people’s problems is our priority. We are not interested in engaging in pointless controversies,” Schlein stated firmly, emphasizing her commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens.

As the Liguria regional elections approach on October 27 and 28, Schlein clarified that these elections are not a national test but rather a crucial vote for the people of Liguria. “This region deserves a better future, and we want to understand how we can be of help in bringing about a renewal for this land. I have always respected the territories and work to support them in forming the right coalitions and alliances,” she said, highlighting her focus on local needs over national implications.

Expressing her support for Andrea Orlando, the center-left candidate for the presidency of the Liguria region, Schlein noted her satisfaction with his candidacy. “I am happy with Andrea Orlando’s nomination,” she remarked, reiterating her commitment to working for the interests of Ligurian citizens and fostering a political environment that prioritizes regional well-being.
