Maltempo, declared the state of national emergency in Sicily, Sardinia and Calabria

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Meloni government has deliberated the declaration of the state of national emergency in the territories of Sicily, Sardinia and Calabria affected by the violent bad weather of recent days. The proposal was advanced and illustrated by the Minister for Civil Protection and the Policies of the Sea Nello Musumeci in today afternoon session of the Council of Ministers, also in the presence of the presidents of the Regions Sicily, Sardinia and Calabria.

The state of emergency may last 12 months, extendable for another 12 months, as the Civil Protection Code provides. In order to cope with the very first interventions provided for in Article 25 letters a,B,c of the Civil Protection Code, the total sum of 100 million euros was deliberated, valid on the Fund for national emergencies. In the coming days the government will adopt a new interministerial measure, to allow the restoration and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure, as soon as the detailed reconnaissance of the damages by the Regions is defined. The reconstruction will be coordinated by the respective presidents of the Region, appointed today delegates with wide powers of derogation.
