MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Trained by the master’s degrees and single-cycle degrees, which grow respectively 10.2% and 6.3%, the University of Milan closed the registrations of the academic year 2025/2026, marking a +2.6% (18.464 registered this year compared to 17.990 of the academic year 2024/2025). Among the faculties that have recorded a significant increase compared to a.a. 2024/2025 Jurisprudence (+9.6%), and Motor Science (+8.7%). Increase also for Pharmaco Science (17.4%), open semester course, Veterinary Medicine (+13.5%) and Medicine and Surgery (+12.5%), which for the next academic year had increased places according to ministerial indications. Sciences and Technologies remain stable (+1.7%), Political, Economic and Social Sciences (+1.6%), Biotechnology (+0.9%), another open semester course. The data on the registrations opened this morning “NoiStatale”, the annual appointment of return of the data of advancement of the strategic plan, introduced by the institutional greetings of the Rector Marina Brambilla and followed by the interventions of the prorectors, who have emphasized the objectives achieved each in their area of competence.
“To address an increasingly competitive scenario you will need to invest decisively in core facilities and advanced technological infrastructure, transversal to multiple disciplines, so as to support and increase our competitive capacity at international level: the Mind Campus marks a unique opportunity to experience a whole new way of doing research. Also the programming of our training offer – rewarded by an excellent result in terms of inscriptions – will have to start on new tracks, linked to the online teaching while keeping the courses in the presence central, dilating on new phases of people’s life, intercepting new segments of users and applying new learning methodologies”, Marina Brambilla opened.
The research has maintained its fundamental role, guided by the concept of the network. The strength and distinguishing figure of the University is in fact in the capacity, built over the years to promote a transversal approach to research based on networking: internally, through actions planned in the Strategic Plan to strengthen the network of researchers in departments and to census and connect scientific equipment; externally, collaborating with financial institutions, with other universities in Italy and Europe to share best practices, with enterprises and companies. From 2018 to 2024 the State has received loans for almost 400 million euros (Bandi Eu: 105.521.733Ç, National Bands: 150.363.583Ç, Bandi PNRR: 139.054.164Ç), which testify to a commitment that requires a solid organizational machine and continuous coordination between principal investigators, departments, central offices, governance and partners. Compared to teaching, the State is updating its offer to respond to new training needs, integrating technologies, active methodologies and an interdisciplinary approach, while maintaining the “presence” as the pivotal part of its training.
In this context, the first fully online degree in Business Economics will be launched in a short time, designed to meet the need for market transformation and the need for permanent and continuous training (lifelong learning) of workers, adults and students who cannot attend in the classroom. On the other hand, the structural growth of the athenaeus is witnessed by the numerous projects on site, first of all MIND, the new scientific campus, which aims to integrate advanced research, enterprises and institutions into an ecosystem that favors joint projects, student involvement and startup birth. The yards now proceed according to the time schedule of the builder: the delivery of a first building at the end of 2027, to conclude then between 2028 and 2029 the scientific macroplatform of 15.000 square meters that can accommodate 300 researchers. Moreover, among the hypotheses to which the State is working in terms of sharing and rationalization, there is the realization of a single Department of Experimental and Translational Medicine, which will allow to optimize the great scientific and curative potential we have in these areas.
More slowly, the progress of the yards in 2025 has made significant steps forward: the works of Via Mercalli 23, destined to classrooms and offices, was opened the student of Santa Sofia with 147 beds, where currently reside the Palestinian students arrived in Italy with the project IUPALS, renewed the Auditorium from 450 places in Valvassori Peroni, which hosted in presence of the students of the new semester opened.
