ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Presented, at the Blue Room of the National Committee of the Italian Red Cross in Rome, the project “Youth Fields of the Italian Red Cross”, realized thanks to the contribution of the Minister for Sport and Youth through the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service.
During the press conference, the Minister for Sport and the young Andrea Abodi and the National President of Croce Rossa Rosario Valastro spoke. “It is the resumption of a path that had lost its sense, the initiative is very important and is part of a series of initiatives that we are doing with other institutions that allow direct knowledge of the matter to young people, who must begin to train sensitivity on risk profiles and risk awareness,” says Abodi, who aims to ensure good prospects for future generations: “We believe in this initiative with the assumption that Italy helps Italy, in a relationship that must be not incidental but constant. We want to avoid marginality and loneliness so that the new generations can see a positive perspective.”.
The initiative includes 8 camps in summer 2026 and 20 fields in summer 2027 and will involve a total of 560 boys and girls aged between 18 and 25. “We are achieving two goals: to allow the Red Cross to promote the values of inclusion and active citizenship and to resume a tradition that from 2010 to 2012 saw me as an organizer. We want to strengthen local communities and national communities so as to build an increasingly strong nation,” adds Valastro.
The main objectives of the project – presented by Gabriele Calì, national technical delegate Activities for the Youth of the Italian Red Cross – are to promote the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteering, unity and universality, improve the formation of young people on the issues of education to health, prevention and healthy lifestyles and learn first aid techniques and encourage active and responsible participation of young people in the life of the community. By promoting young people’s access to educational and training opportunities outside the residential context, the Red Cross aims to reduce inequalities in access to opportunities and care, in order to broaden regional and national communities.
