ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Learning to use artificial intelligence effectively and consciously becomes part of basic university education. From the academic year 2026/27, all students of the first year of the National University of Singapore will have to attend a compulsory course dedicated to artificial generation intelligence.
The module, called “Applied Generative AI: From Prompting to Evaluation”, is designed to provide practical skills in the use of large linguistic models and multimodal artificial intelligence systems, applicable both to study and subsequently to professional life.
The course combines three hours of online lessons, accompanied by quiz, with a two-hour workshop in the presence. Both activities must be completed within the first two weeks of the first semester. Students will learn to communicate effectively with AI systems, understand their functioning, critically assess their responses and integrate them into more complex activities while maintaining the role of the human being central.
The aim of the university is not to replace the intellectual work of students but to teach them to use artificial intelligence as a tool.
The new teaching is the first level of a broader path: the skills on artificial intelligence will be progressively integrated into the common curriculum and in the different degree courses, with the aim of preparing students to use these tools specifically in their respective fields of study and subsequently in the world of work.
