ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italy will be present at Vinitaly Usa 2026, scheduled in New York on 26 and 27 October, to tell the value of wine, strategic asset and identity, and the increasingly central role of our country in the field of wine tourism. An organized press conference for 27 October at 12 o’clock, which will see the participation of Ivana Jelinic, in Enit, and Gianluca Caramanna, Councillor of the Minister of Tourism for Institutional Relations and Member of the Committee Production Activities, Commerce and Tourism of the House.
Predicted the creation of an editorial hub, in Italian and in English, entirely dedicated to wine tourism, hosted on enit.it. According to an analysis of the Enit Study Office on UniCredit-Nomisma Wine Monitor 2025 data, 98% of winemakers intend to repeat at least a wine-related travel experience over the next two or three years, and our country is indicated as a preferred destination for future experiences from 85% of wine-makers.
The US market confirms its centrality for Italian tourism. In the first half of 2026, 1.9 million travelers from the United States visited Italy, generating over 17.7 million overnight stays. Compared to the same period of 2025, spending has grown by 7.5%, travelers by 6.2% and overnight stays by 7.6%.
Within this scenario, interest in food and wine tourism also grows. In 2025, 30,000 U.S. travelers chose Italy for a food and wine holiday, twice as much as the previous year, with a cost of €42.3 million. The Italian Ministry of Tourism considers ecotourism a priority to be developed also on international markets through Enit, to strengthen the competitiveness of Italy, to support local economies and to promote the sustainable growth of rural areas and small centres.
“The Ministry of Tourism supports and promotes ecotourism, a strategic sector worth 3.1 billion, enhances territories and villages and promotes seasonalization. Wine is one of the most recognizable expressions of Italian excellence and, together with culture, landscape, gastronomy and hospitality, tells the world the identity and excellence of our nation,” said the Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi.
“The United States is a crucial market for us: in 2025 they generated in Italy 6.6 billion tourist spending and 3.6 million overnight stays, constantly growing. That’s why Vinitaly. Usa is a key event to promote our wine offering, support companies and strengthen Italy’s attraction,” concludes Mazzi.
