ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In 1926, Bosch revolutionized driving safety with the first electric wiper. 100 years later, the company celebrates this significant anniversary and retraces a long history of revolutionary innovations. From the introduction of intermittent winding to Aerotwin flat-blade wiper, Bosch has contributed to decisively shaping the development of wiper systems and has repeatedly redefined standards for a clear vision.
The history of the Bosch wipers is a history of progress. The electrical drive was followed by the development of the rubber for double material wipers (1994), which significantly improved cleaning performance. With Bosch Aerotwin in 2001, the company established the new standard for modern flat-blade wipers, which are now adopted as original equipment (OE) by most new vehicles. Their aerodynamic design with a custom Evodium spring strip ensures optimal contact pressure and long life.
“The invention of Bosch’s electric windshield wiper in 1926 was a quantum leap for road safety,” said Bart Robijns, Bosch’s Head of Construction. “A modern wiper is a crucial component of the vehicle: the latest generation of electric vehicles, in particular, places high demands on acoustic performance. Wiper wipers are required with maximum smoothness and no annoying background noise. In addition, modern driving assistance systems are based on an impeccably clean windscreen for cameras and sensors to capture the environment around the vehicle accurately and continuously,” explained Robijns
The anniversary campaign celebrates “100 years of perfect visuals and happy moments”
To celebrate this anniversary, Bosch launched a global communication campaign, officially started with Automechanika. With the motto “100 years of perfect visuals and happy moments”, the campaign tells a story that connects generations and focuses on the themes of family, care and nostalgia. The campaign includes videos, extensive social media activities and other materials that shops and retailers can use in their marketing activities.
The innovative force was the driving force behind Bosch wiper systems for 100 years. With pioneering technologies, the company actively shapes global trends and offers tailor-made solutions for the first equipment and aftermarket. For example, the Aerotwin J.E.T-blade for commercial vehicles integrates the nozzles in the wiper brush, so the lavavetri liquid can be sprayed directly in front of the brush while crossing the windscreen, thus reducing the annoying spray mist and immediately improving visibility for drivers. On these systems, fleet operators benefit from maximum reliability, while workshops save time during installation thanks to pre-assembled adapters.
