ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Regarding the possibility of financing health care and all the measures we have announced, it is the fruit of our work, of the 2024 data, which are judged positively, perhaps not in this House by the opposition, but by all national and international economic observers, and the objective data — even today those of the spread — comfort us. This is an important effort in a complicated public finance situation,” he added. “This year we also asked for a significant contribution from banks and insurance companies. I have to say with irony that last year you contested the fact that we made a tax on extra-profits and they did not pay a euro, while this year you tell us that they pay euros, but we did not make the tax,” Giorgetti said addressing the opposition. The result is that we have the availability, thanks to which we can increase the National Health Fund in favor of interventions in health care and further strengthen the tax rebate for low and middle income earners, even beyond what was provided last year; moreover, this is a measure about which in this very House so many were expressing doubts with respect to its one-time nature. As for the criticism that the maneuver contains temporary measures that cannot be replicated, I believe that this government has shown that it has confirmed all of them, including those in favor of families, of female workers with two children, despite a literature, including journalistic ones, that in recent days has fed a whole series of reports that do not exactly correspond to the truth. “If one goes in depth in analyzing the intervention that has also been made on the deductibility of write-downs of loan losses, one will notice that this measure, moreover, has been made by leftist governments in the past as well. Our ambition is to help those most in need. We promise it and we do it. On evasion, we do not promise, but we do. All the objections we have had about updating cadastral data are because we want to go and recover evasion and not increase cadastral rents to all the citizens who rightly have a home and have done their homework. I think the behavior of our government is not in this sense deserving of blame, we will continue in this direction and I think the data prove us right,” Giorgetti concluded.
