A recent Facebook post by Antonella Lacarpia, daughter of Giuseppe Lacarpia, has ignited a heated discussion after the 65-year-old man took his own life in Bari prison. Giuseppe Lacarpia had been imprisoned for the brutal murder of his wife, Maria Arcangela Turturo, which took place in Gravina in Puglia between October 5 and 6.
Antonella Lacarpia’s post, which featured celebratory emojis, was accompanied by a message to a cousin: “These are all the prayers we said for mom.” Her words, laden with emotional complexity, highlight the family’s profound pain and suggest a sense of release following the father’s death. The post has drawn significant attention due to its stark tone.
A cousin of Antonella also commented on the post, sharing equally harsh sentiments towards the deceased: “You don’t even deserve paradise! Cousin, I love you. Your mother took justice into her own hands… karma comes back.” This comment appears to refer to Giuseppe Lacarpia’s alleged murder of his wife, which the family sees as a form of divine retribution.
The murder, described as particularly violent, occurred after Lacarpia and his wife attended a family event. Lacarpia reportedly set fire to the car with his wife inside, and when she attempted to escape, he fatally assaulted her. Lacarpia, who was arrested shortly after the incident, claimed during his interrogation that the fire had been accidental and that he had tried to save her.
Following Lacarpia’s suicide in prison, the Bari Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding his death, with the possibility of conducting an autopsy. The tragic events have left the family grappling with a profound loss, unresolved anger, and public scrutiny.
