TURIN (ITALPRESS) – Fiat Professional has announced the official start of production of the E-Ducato – the all-electric version of the popular Fiat Professional Ducato – at its plant in Atessa, Italy. This milestone marks a pivotal moment for both the Fiat Professional brand and Stellantis, united in leading the transition to sustainable mobility in the light commercial vehicle sector.Ducato has a strong European presence being Stellantis’ first large van with an 11.2 percent* market share in its segment. With a reputation as the best-selling commercial vehicle in Italy, it has long been a leader in the light commercial vehicle market. In the large van segment, the Ducato holds an important 24%* market share in Italy, further consolidating its position as the market leader. In France, the Ducato achieves equally impressive results, ranking second in its segment and becoming Stellantis’ first Large Van. On the podium, in second place also in Poland, as well as in Spain and Portugal it occupies the third position in the segment.Regarding the recreational vehicle segment, the Ducato is the leader in Europe with a growth of 5 percentage points compared to last year and with 70 percent of the recreational vehicles on European roads on Ducato basis. In addition, the Ducato was awarded “Best Camper Base Vehicle of the Year” for 2024 by readers of the German trade magazine Promobil, an honor received for the 16th consecutive year.Building on its success story, the new E-Ducato represents a jewel of innovation, offering an uncompromising electric solution. Designed entirely in-house, it is equipped with the new second-generation 110 kWh battery pack, ensuring a best-in-class zero-emission experience, thanks in part to an impressive range of up to 424 km in the WLTP cycle. Combining advanced electric technology with the Ducato’s reliability, performance and versatility, the vehicle represents a sustainable solution for commercial vehicle fleets.Designed for today’s professional needs, the E-Ducato features a remarkable driving range, fast charging options and multiple configurations that make it adaptable to multiple sectors, from logistics to services, but not only. As the demand for zero-emission vehicles continues to grow, the E-Ducato positions FIAT Professional as a leader in the transition to electric mobility in the commercial vehicle sector.The Atessa manufacturing plant, established in 1979 as a joint venture between Fiat and PSA-Peugeot Citroèn, began operation in 1981 near Chieti. Covering more than 1.2 million square meters, this iconic plant represents the largest and most flexible light commercial vehicle plant in Europe, with the capacity to produce up to 1,200 vehicles per day. Currently, 80 percent of production is exported to 75 countries, demonstrating the plant’s international importance. Since the majority of large vans are produced at this plant, the start of E-Ducato production in Atessa represents a historic moment for the site and reaffirms Fiat Professional’s commitment to Italian manufacturing and the green transition.
