SAN MARINO (ITALPRESS) – Christian Forcellini is the new president of the San Marino National Olympic Committee for the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle. He was elected by the National Council assembly and received 24 votes over Andrea Benvenuti, who received 10.
Forcellini is the eighth president of the San Marino Olympic Committee. The 55-year-old executive is president of the San Marino Tennis Federation, former vice president of the Cons in the last two terms and Head of Mission in the London 2012 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, recalling athletic backgrounds in tennis and track and field.
Marco Giancarlo Rossini, president of the San Marino Swimming Federation, was elected as the new vice president of the Cons with 22 votes, overtaking the other candidate Gian Luca Gatti, head of Winter Sports, who received 11 votes. Only one blank ballot.
Among the internal members, chosen from among the federal presidents, Mauro Santi (athletics), Emanuele Vannucci (golf) and Maurizio Mazza (martial arts) were elected to the Executive Committee. Eros Bologna was confirmed as secretary general with 27 votes; for Federico Valentini 7 votes.
At the opening of the National Council meeting, outgoing President Gian Primo Giardi thanked the entire Executive and Auditors for their work and bid farewell to the other federal presidents with a review of his 12 years as president.
