In a recent interview on La7’s “In Onda,” Maria Rosaria Boccia expressed her discontent over the resignation of Gennaro Sangiuliano from his position as Minister of Culture. Boccia, who was involved in the situation, stated, “No, I’m not happy at all. He deserved that position; he is a highly competent person and, in my opinion, a good person. He found himself in a situation he couldn’t manage, and I am deeply sorry.”
Addressing allegations of espionage, Boccia firmly denied any wrongdoing. “Absolutely not. I wasn’t spying on the minister; I worked with him,” she said. Boccia detailed her recent struggles with intense media scrutiny, stating she had been overwhelmed and isolated. She emphasized that she had only responded to the minister’s statements and respected both him and the institutions involved.
Boccia was unaware of Sangiuliano’s recent interview on TG1 and expressed disappointment over not being informed beforehand. She also revealed that during a discussion with Sangiuliano’s wife, the minister had asked her to listen to their conversation. In this conversation, the minister’s wife allegedly requested that Boccia’s appointment be withdrawn.
Reflecting on the controversy, Boccia questioned whether her appointment was revoked due to personal whims or a lack of competence. She urged the minister to reveal the full truth or face her account, which could implicate others. Boccia stressed the need for the situation to be resolved swiftly to avoid further harm and misinformation.
