Tajani “Africa and Gaza, Italy guarantor on development and reconstruction”

NAPOLI (ITALPRESS) – “We are in sub-Saharan Africa to fight terrorism and to defend the security of our citizens, that of our companies. We defend our idea of equal political partnership with those countries. Our security cooperation plans include a very important mission: in Niger operate 350 of our soldiers with the specific task of forming the army and police paintings. The Niger plays a key role: geographically, going north, after that country there is Libya and we all know how the relationship with Libya is strategic for Italy. It must be kept under control the region of Agades, the center from which illegal weapons and traffic transit”. In an interview with “Il Mattino” the vicepremier and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani. “The danger in Mali is twofold, because jihadists and proponents of the Islamic State aim to take control of the government – he points out. For days they have blocked the influx of fuel tanks from the ports on the Atlantic to this country which has no outlet to the sea. There is a climate of tension and concern for foreign communities in Bamako.” For Tajani however “the Mattei Plan continues according to the times and objectives set. Italy is seen with great favor and appreciation from African countries: we have joint cooperation and collaboration in countries very rich in raw materials.”.

As regards the truce in Gaza, Tajani emphasised that “the efforts and results so far have been encouraged. We are already present with military and diplomatic in the CMCC, the center opened by Americans and Israel to advance the truce and stabilization of the Strip. Tomorrow our delegation (military and diplomatic) will be in the region for new meetings and to prepare the conference on reconstruction in mid-November Cairo, for which Italy is a co-organizer country along with Egypt. In this process – he concludes – the countries of the Arab world must be involved because the final goal is to pacify the entire region and create conditions for development and progress.”.
