The Ministry of Culture has organized a special event to celebrate Sophia Loren’s 90th birthday. A private party will be held at The Space Cinema Moderno in Rome to honor the legendary Italian actress. During the event, Loren will be presented with a special award by Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni and Cinecittà president Chiara Sbarigia.
Friends of the two-time Oscar-winning actress will attend, arriving from all corners of the globe. Loren will be joined by her sons, Edoardo and Carlo Ponti, along with their wives, actress Sasha Alexander and violinist Andrea Meszaros. Family members, including her four grandchildren, sister Maria Scicolone, and a hundred colleagues and friends, will also be present at the private gathering.
Numerous events are being held worldwide to honor Loren. In Pozzuoli, her childhood town, a vibrant pop mural has been created in her honor. Celebrations will take place from Florence to Naples, culminating in a retrospective of her films at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, running from November 7 to 30, organized by Cinecittà.
The festivities will conclude with a grand finale in Santa Monica, featuring a concert by tenor Pasquale Esposito, directed by Loren’s eldest son, conductor Carlo Ponti Jr., in a tribute to her enduring legacy.
