ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, arrived this morning in Tokyo for the second stage of the official mission in the Asian continent. For today’s day no official appointments are scheduled, while tomorrow is a meeting at the official residence of the Japanese Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi. Meanwhile, in a joint editorial published in the newspapers Corriere della Sera and Nikkei, Meloni and Takaichi emphasize how “Italy and Japan are determined to build a future of security, peace, prosperity and stability. At this historic moment in which the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two nations takes place, we are fully aware of the responsibility which the citizens have entrusted to us, and we are committed to fulfilling it to the maximum of our abilities. Italy and Japan are great creative and innovative nations and together we can become protagonists in a future of shared progress.”.
“Our bilateral strategic convergence is reflected in the commitment to strengthen coordination in the main multilateral bodies, from the G7 to the United Nations, and to defend an international order based on shared rules and the strength of law. A distinctive element of this vision is the desire to engage us through the enlarged Mediterranean and the Indo-Pacific, central geopolitical spaces in global balances. In this shared vision, economic security becomes increasingly important. We are convinced that it is essential to develop interconnections and make supply chains stronger, safer and resistant to external shocks. At the same time, we intend to continue to work to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies, countering unfair economic practices that distort the market and ensuring that they can operate under equal conditions, because trade can be free, only if it is even fair. Our common vision is also projected towards the South Global, including Africa.”.
