PADOVA (ITALPRESS) – A 27-year-old Gambian citizen was arrested by the police in Padua, an asylum seeker, who this morning wandered around the railway station square by branding a kitchen knife, of which 15 cm long. The man, according to the Questura, would have resisted the moment of detention, causing slight injuries to one of the agents involved.
The alarm was triggered shortly before 9, when a passerby signaled to the patrol of the Operating Units of ready-to-use (Uopi) the presence of a man armed with knife near the arcade of the station. The policemen of the Uopi, the Flyers and the strengthened supervisory service identified the 27-year-old and told him to leave the weapon. The man initially leaned on the ground, but maintaining it in his availability, making necessary the intervention of the agents to immobilize it. During the colluctation, the 27-year-old would have tried several times to divict, causing a policeman to be embellished with the elbow and a hand, judged to be healed in three days. At the time of the stop, the Questura still reports, the man would have repeatedly shouted “Allah Akbar”. The 27-year-old was arrested for resistance and injury to official public, abusive port of weapons and objects to offend and false generality. He was made available to the Prosecutor of Padua for the very direct judgment.
A number of police and criminal records have emerged from the police and criminal investigations, including drug-related crimes. Arrived in Italy in March 2016 as an unaccompanied minor, he was arrested a few months later, in Enna, for seizure of person for extortion. In 2017 he was also investigated for violence and threat to official public and attempted sexual violence. In 2022 he was arrested in Portogruaro for detention for drug trafficking and investigated for invasion of land and buildings.
In December 2023, he was finally sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Discarded in 2025 for the expiation of the penalty, the 27-year-old is currently being tested for undue access to communication devices during the previous detention. His application for asylum had been declared inadmissible by the Territorial Commission of Trieste in February 2026, but the measure was subsequently suspended by the Court of Trieste following the appeal lodged by man. The Minister of Padua, Marco Odorisio, has made further investigations by Digos and has activated the Immigration Office for the start of the procedures aimed at the subsequent accompaniment at a Centre for Repatriation (Cpr).

I express my closeness and wish to resign quickly.” It is the comment of the president of the Region of Veneto, Alberto Stefani, on the news of the arrest of a foreign citizen by the Police of the city of Santo, following the signal of some passersby who noticed it while branding a big knife and who wounded an agent in an attempt to divinculate.
