Atalanta wins 2-0 in Venice, Pasalic and Retegui in goal

VENICE (ITALPRESS) – A second consecutive victory for Atalanta in the league, the Nerazzurri impose themselves 2-0 at home to Venezia thanks to goals from Pasalic and Retegui. Fourth success in Serie A for the Bergamaschi now in fourth place tied with Lazio, Fiorentina and Udinese (13 points). Complicated situation at home of the Veneti, pinned at 4 points at the bottom of the standings: the match with Monza already becomes decisive. The match at the Penzo immediately went downhill for Gasperini’s team, at 7′ Pasalic, after a ball in the small area not returned by the Venetian defense, was quicker than anyone to find the decisive turn. A goal that dazed a Venice immediately on the ropes, De Ketelaere and Retegui within minutes came close to doubling the goal. The lagoon players tried to answer with Zampano’s conclusion repelled by an excellent intervention of Carnesecchi, the Bergamasks came close to scoring on several occasions, first with Lookman’s crossbar, then with De Ketelaere’s shot (a scheme on a free kick from the limit) that came out by a matter of centimeters. Despite a good end to the first half by Oristanio and his teammates, Dea found the 2-0 lead at 2′ of the second half when Retegui, after snatching the ball from Candela, slotted past Stankovic with a sumptuous lob. The goal cashed in cold, on an individual error, allowed the Bergamasks to control the match, which slipped away without too many emotions. Several records of the day, starting with Mario Pasalic, who became the first Croatian footballer to score 50 goals in Serie A. Also smiling is Retegui, on his eighth goal in eight games: the Italo-Argentine has practically surpassed the number of goals (7) he scored in his first year in Italy with the Genoa shirt. Three more points then for the Bergamasks, who will be back on the pitch on Wednesday against Celtic in the third day of the first phase of the new Champions League.- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
