Bedin new B League president “Positive climate”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A decisive day for the Lega Serie B. In the early afternoon Paolo Bedin was appointed new president in place of outgoing Mauro Balata: 15 votes in the third ballot, thus exceeding the quorum set at 11. In the first two votes Balata himself had obtained 4 and 5 votes, which is why the now former president decided to withdraw his candidacy. The watchword was serenity and compactness, and already in the first lines Bedin sought cohesion: a former general manager of Serie B (under the management of the current Minister of Sport Abodi), he recently resigned from the same position in Lega Pro. Bedin began his journey in soccer at Vicenza as managing director from 2010 to 2018, after his tenure in Serie B he returned again to the “biancorosso” where for four seasons he served as general manager (from 2018 to 2022). Internationally, he has for many years been a representative and member of the Board of the European Leagues, the association of European professional soccer leagues (in share of the 2 and 3 division leagues). “There has been a very positive climate, it has been an elective campaign with an important dialectic,” he said during his first press conference, “today one of the things to highlight is the respectful, serene climate that has been experienced. I am an advocate that a strong, structured league with expertise can be a driver of development. We cannot disregard an intense collaboration with both the A and C leagues, the professional world must dialogue more and rediscover a chain idea with a constructive spirit, a continuous relationship. So many things have changed,” he continued, “it is a complex system in which economic-financial sustainability remains an important factor of concern. That of B remains a fascinating league, it represents the middle tier with many important teams, with many talents, it maintains its usual characteristics. Priorities? They are the ones we have highlighted in the program, there are economic-financial aspects of great urgency dictated by the last revenue-audio-visual announcement, there are aspects very dear to me of organizational structure and synergies with other leagues.” Luigi De Laurentiis, son of Napoli president Aurelio and current president of Bari, has been appointed vice president. The directors will instead be Andrea Corradino, Francesco Dini, Filippo Piccoli, Carmelo Salerno, Matteo Manfredi, and Luigi De Laurentiis himself. The two independent directors will instead be Enrico Mambelli and Andrea Sartori. – photo pia/Italpress -(ITALPRESS).
