ROME (ITALPRESS) – BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new-energy vehicles, introduces the Sealion 7, the ideal SUV for European customers. With sporty performance, a sleek design, cutting-edge EV technologies, a spacious and well-finished cabin, a smarter on-board interface and a charging speed of up to 230 kW, the new model greatly expands BYD’s ability to meet the needs of the European market. The Sealion 7 is the seventh 100% electric car launched by BYD in Europe and the fourth model in the Ocean Series, following the Dolphin, Seal and Seal U. With an overall length of 4,830 mm and a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, a WLTP range of up to 502 km, and outstanding performance (215 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.5 seconds), BYD’s new SUV perfectly meets the needs of technology-conscious European customers looking for a sporty and sustainable family car. “We have noticed and welcomed the demand for this type of vehicle in Europe, so we are pleased to present the Sealion 7 to the Italian press. We are confident that its SUV design and distinctive features such as Blade battery technology, extended range and generous performance will be highly appreciated. The Sealion 7 is a demonstration of how BYD is reacting to the demand and tastes of European customers, expanding its product range to ensure the best possible coverage in key market segments. This will be a determining factor in our continued growth in Europe,” said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD.Created under the guidance of Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger, the Sealion 7 takes the styling language of the Ocean Series, already appreciated on the Seal sedan, and adapts it to the styling of a sporty SUV. The result is a car that looks powerful and athletic, but also has extremely efficient shapes that help ensure extended range with the Blade Battery. The front end incorporates an “X” motif, already seen on other Ocean Series models, and is designed to create a sense of movement that reflects the car’s dynamic performance. The ocean theme can be seen in the Dual U integrated LED headlights and sculpted curves reminiscent of the movement of waves. The bold side profile and sloping front are offset by the rounded roof and a subtle ducktail rear spoiler. In the flank surface, a sharp groove creates a double beltline and gives an athletic posture despite the SUV proportions. The bold design and aerodynamic efficiency are further accentuated by flush body handles that retract into the doors when the car is in motion. At the rear, sculpted and muscular wheel arches reflect the SUV’s performance potential. The full-width light signature across the tailgate represents the latest evolution of the Ocean Series “teardrop” brake lights. The overall length of the car is 30 mm longer than that of the BYD Seal, but the main difference between the two models is most noticeable in the height, the roofline of Sealion 7 being 160 mm higher.
