ROMA (ITALPRESS) – As part of the programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Meeting in Rimini, Vice Minister Edmondo Cirielli took part in two events dedicated to coffee and cocoa, with the aim of deepening the opportunities for sustainable development and valorisation of local skills in the partner countries of Italian Cooperation.
The first meeting was dedicated to the Italian commitment to a more resilient and sustainable coffee supply chain, with particular attention to training and opportunities for new generations. The panel brought together representatives of the institutions and the coffee sector of Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya, together with UNIDO, E4Impact and representatives of the Italian private sector.
In the panel dedicated to cocoa, Cacao Connect, the Italian initiative promoted by MAECI, was launched with the aim of setting diplomacy, development cooperation, industrial skills and research, creating a common platform of collaboration with the producing countries. The initiative will initially be aimed at Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Cameroon, Nigeria, Uganda and the Republic of the Congo, with interventions adapted to the characteristics and needs of the different production systems.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, Save the Children Italia, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Ferrero e ICAM.
