EU, Zelensky “ReArm Europe program starts as soon as possible”

BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) (ITALPRESS) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the ReArm Europe program to “start functioning as soon as possible.” “It would be right for the ReArm Europe program to start functioning as soon as possible, it is a very useful and forward-looking initiative. Keep developing your industries and research,” Zelensky said in his video-linked address to the European Council.

“Ukraine has effective and modern technology, especially in drones and electronic warfare, which can benefit all of Europe and our global partners,” he added. Zelensky also welcomed EU High Representative Kaja Kallas’ proposal for a 5 billion support for munitions in Kiev. “We need funds for artillery shells and we would very much appreciate Europe’s support with at least 5 billion as soon as possible. Investment in weapons production is needed both in Ukraine and in your countries. Europe needs technological independence, including in weapons production. Everything needed to defend the continent should be produced here in Europe. We must work together for this,” Zelensky said.
