A fire broke out on Friday afternoon along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, very close to Milan’s Duomo, but was swiftly extinguished by the local fire department. The exact source of the fire remains unclear, though it is believed to have been caused by overheating electrical cables in a building. Images and videos from the scene show flames emerging from two ground-level grates, with a large column of black smoke visible. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Authorities cordoned off the area at the intersection of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Via Beccaria, and nearby shops were evacuated as a precaution. Additionally, part of the neighborhood had its power cut off to ensure safety during the emergency response. Investigations are ongoing to assess the full extent of the damage.
