Hol4All, in the mountains an accessible holiday for young people with disabilities and their families

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – There are breaths that, on top of a mountain, become lighter. Not only for the air of high altitude, but for that feeling of freedom that arises when the barriers become less high, the weight of everyday life lightens and every component of the family can finally find its own space. From September 7 to 12, the 20 families protagonists of the new Hol4All session, abbreviation of Holiday for All, “a holiday for all”, the project promoted by the Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation, the main expression of the social responsibility initiatives of the Allianz Group in Italy.

Born in 2021 to offer a truly accessible holiday for children and children with complex disabilities or rare diseases together with their families, Hol4All has transformed Madonna di Campiglio and the Brenta Dolomites into a shared experience of sport, nature, well-being and inclusion. For five days, the mountain was not simply the background of a stay, but a space to explore together. Paths, forests, shelters and rock walls have become places to measure with new possibilities, experiment autonomous and discover that, with the appropriate tools and support, seemingly difficult experiences can become accessible and engaging.

Maurizio Devescovi, President of the Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation, explains: “Through this project we want to offer so many families an extraordinary standard. Once and a space where inclusion stops being an exception and becomes daily life. Hol4All means creating conditions for everyone to feel welcomed, participate and experience freedom, without any family member being excluded or left behind.”.

After the summer session of September, Madonna di Campiglio will be back to host Hol4All from 13 to 17 December 2026, for a new experience dedicated to winter mountain and inclusion. The heart of the Madonna di Campiglio session was outdoor sports, experienced not as a competition, but as a sensorial experience, an opportunity for relationships and gaining autonomy.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Company and with the Third Sector and local operators, families were able to choose between cycling activities along the route from Patascoss to Malga Ritorto, trekking towards Lake Nambino and climbing at Falesia Fontanella Bassa. For larger siblings a day was also organized at the altitude towards the Segantini Refuge, with packed lunch. The contact with the mountain continued with the walk towards Malga Zeledria, accompanied by the donkeys and made accessible also through the use of joelette, special wheelchairs that allow people with reduced mobility to make excursions and trekking, while siblings (the brothers and sisters of people with disabilities. ) from seven years on they reached Lake Malghette.

The families also participated in a special moment at altitude and a Rally Experience, opportunities designed to approach the territory through different forms of movement, discovery and fun. The program began with a Golf Experience and also included activities in the pool, ping-pong tournaments and table football, circus proposals and a sports afternoon in the gym with some players of the men’s volleyball team of SuperLega (Serie A1) Allianz Milano Powervolley.

Each activity has been modulated to allow the participation of children and children with disabilities, brothers and sisters and parents. Hol4All arises from the awareness that complex disability or rare diseases do not only concern those directly interested in it, but involve the whole family. For this reason the project does not propose a single program equal to all, but builds parallel paths, capable of responding to the needs of children with disabilities, parents and siblings. During the stay, a team of educators, psychologists, doctors and volunteers, including Allianz employees, took care of the various activities and moments of the day, offering families a protected and organized context. Parents have thus been able to rely on competent persons, lightening at least for a few days the welfare burden that often accompanies daily life.

Massages, SPA activities, yoga acro sessions, free time and dedicated meetings in the “stube” have been planned for moms and dads. The program also reserved distinct moments of listening and comparison for mothers and fathers, as well as a candlelight dinner designed to return the couple a space of intimacy and sharing. In the meantime, the brothers and sisters of children with disabilities could live experiences built for their age. The youngest participated in activities with families, while for siblings from seven years on, trekking, games, sports tournaments, circus activities, a pool party and moments of encounter and confrontation were organized. Not simple companions, therefore, but protagonists of a holiday in which to find lightness, autonomy and new relationships.

A moment of extraordinary energy and emotion was the sports afternoon experienced in the gym along with some players from the first team of Allianz Milano Powervolley. SuperLega athletes have led the boys and families in a special session of sitting volleyball, the sitting volleyball born as an inclusive sport par excellence. The activity has zeroed every physical barrier: sitting on the same floor, champions, children, parents and siblings played and teamed together, demonstrating how passion for sport can turn into a moment of sharing, fun and team spirit.

In addition to sports experiences and activities, the days were marked by artistic workshops, a cooking class, moments of psychophysical well-being and informal social opportunities. Even the evening ritual of the good night’s history, re-proposed at the end of almost every day, helped create a sense of familiarity, continuity and sharing.

In the evening, families, volunteers and operators found themselves to be together, tell each other the day and share the experience. An evening under the stars and the final Talent ideally closed the circle of a week during which people who initially did not know had built bonds, recognized common experiences and shaped a community capable of sustaining themselves even beyond the duration of the holiday. It is precisely in these moments that the deepest meaning of Hol4All emerges: not a bracket separated from everyday life, but an experience whose benefits can continue over time. The confidence gained, the self-experienced, the relationships born between families and the awareness of having faced a new challenge together represent a reserve of energy to bring home.
